Ned Farquhar, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the US Department of the Interior since early 2009, assists with oversight of onshore and offshore energy policy and programs implemented by three bureaus: the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.  His government and academic work experience includes: Senior Policy Advisor to New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Chair of the Western Governors’ Association Staff Council, Special Assistant to Alaska Natural Resources Commissioner Esther Wunnicke, and adjunct faculty at the University of Vermont and the University of New Mexico.  He received a Master’s degree from Cambridge University and his bachelor’s from Middlebury College, where he was selected as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow
