Bio

For more than a decade, Vice Mayor Kristin Jacobs has championed issues to improve and protect Broward County’s quality of life.  She was elected in 1998 to represent the residents of Pompano Beach, Coconut Creek, Deerfield Beach and Margate, and has previously served as Broward County’s Vice Mayor in 2004 and Mayor in 2005.

She has earned a well-known and respected reputation as a visionary who has consistently brought vital issues like climate change, water conservation and smarter public transit to the forefront of public attention long before they became fashionable.  Kristin has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives on environmental and water quality issues.

Kristin serves as Chair of the Broward County Climate Change Task Force, Chair of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, Chair of the Energy Committee for the National Association of Counties, and serves on the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization.  She was also recently selected as Chair of President Obama’s White House National Ocean Council Governance Coordinating Committee.
