Susan Joy Hassol is a climate change communicator, analyst, and author known for her ability to translate science into English. She has worked for more than 20 years to help communicate the science of climate change to a wide variety of audiences, making complex issues accessible to policymakers and the public. She has written and edited numerous high-level reports, testified before Congress, written an HBO documentary, and appeared on national radio and television shows. Susan is the Director of Climate Communication, which provides communication support and training to climate scientists and helps make climate science available and comprehensible to the media and public. She is currently a Visiting Scholar at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, NC where she is working with the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites on the National Climate Assessment.
