Laura Petes is the Senior Policy Advisor for Climate Adaptation and Ecosystems at the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy (OSTP). In this role, she is leading OSTP’s engagement in activities to better prepare the U.S. and its citizens for climate change under the President’s Climate Action Plan. Prior to coming to OSTP, Laura was serving as the Ecosystem Science Advisor in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Program Office. She earned her BA at Cornell University and her PhD in Zoology (Marine Ecology) at Oregon State University. Laura has conducted research on marine animals around the U.S. and the world – studying coral reefs in the Florida Keys and Mexico, mussels in Oregon and New Zealand, and oysters in the Gulf of Mexico.
